More info

The DFD Nicaragua 2008 event was a huge success. The event was hosted by the Nicaraguan GNU/Linux User Groups in the National University of Engineering (IES-UNI) in Managua, Nicaragua.

The event started at 9:00 and ended at 17:00. About 300 people attended this whole day event that included;

  • Seven talks and conferences about Open Standards and Free and Open Technologies.
  • A Demo Area with eight computers running different GNU/Linux distributions with access to the Internet, so that the attendees could sit down and test drive some free software.
  • A couple of burning stations, where we distributed free and open source software.
  • A stand where we had some printed material to hand out and some GNU/Linux t-shirts for sale.

An official press release was distributed on the day before the event to all the major newspapers, radio and TV stations. A crew from a local TV channel showed up on the DFD day. We are going to upload the videos as soon as we have them.
